A new study by researchers from the Brazilian research institute (INF) and the Brazilian National Agency for Drugs and Therapeutic Products (ANAP) in the first ever clinical trial of the medication Viagra (sildenafil) in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED).

The study, which included both men and women, involved a large number of participants, including 1879 with ED, which took Viagra for 6 months. We need to be aware of its side effects and use them safely," explains de Souza, adding that they are also common with ED drugs like Viagra. “Viagra-Viagra interactions are also associated with more serious side effects such as vision problems.”
Viagra is known to interact with nitrates, often prescribed for chest pain. The use of nitrates in ED can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, leading to heart attacks, strokes, and even death. In a 2016 study, researchers found that the use of nitrates was associated with a greater risk of developing pulmonary embolism, which can be fatal if left untreated. "Sildenafil is also associated with an increased risk of stroke in patients with high blood pressure, a risk that increases with age.”
The study, led by the ANAP researchers, was conducted on patients in the city of Parana, Brazil, and included both male and female participants. In this study, the researchers found no statistically significant difference in sildenafil-based PDE5 inhibitors among the different study groups.

A man suffering from erectile dysfunction has been sentenced to four years in prison, after he admitted to taking more than 100 tablets of Viagra Connect and to have sexual intercourse with a woman. Police have arrested the man after he admitted that he had purchased the tablets on behalf of a woman.
